A guide to interviewing at Kard

At Kard, we take a thoughtful and structured approach to hiring, designed to help us understand your strengths, experience, and fit for our team, while also giving you insight into what it’s like to work with us. Our interview process balances efficiency with thoroughness, ensuring you feel supported, informed, and excited about each step.

The Interview Process

We know interviewing is stressful, so we want to set you up for success by giving you an overview of what you can expect throughout our hiring process. This process will vary a bit based on the seniority or type of role, but it will follow this general outline. Our goal is to complete the entire process in 3 to 4 weeks.

Recruiter Prescreen

First, you will meet with our recruiting team to learn more about the role, team, and company. We’ll ask some general questions about your background and what piqued your interest in this role and Kard.

Hiring Manager Interview

Next, you’ll connect with the hiring manager to learn more about our needs for this role. They will be asking questions about your background to better understand what you’re looking for in your next role and how your skillset supports that.

Take-Home Assignment (R&D roles only)

For our R&D roles, we may request a brief take-home project. This assignment is designed to showcase your problem-solving skills and practical knowledge without requiring any work related to active projects at Kard. Once you submit your project, our team will review it and get back to you quickly with feedback and next steps.

Team Panel Interview

Next, you’ll participate in a 1-hour panel style interview with a few of our team members. This interview allows you to meet key team members who will collaborate with you directly, each covering specific focus areas relevant to the role. We aim to give you a real sense of your day-to-day team dynamics, culture, and the types of projects you might tackle. Each panelist will ask a few key questions to help evaluate both your technical abilities and alignment with Kard’s values.

The Offer

At this point, we’ll have a strong sense of what you would bring to our team and we’ll be thrilled to extend you an offer. Hopefully, you are feeling well-informed and equally excited about joining Kard, but should you have any questions, we’ll be here to help.

The Ideal Candidate

Here are some of the things we're hoping to see during your interview (embodying our values):

  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and ownership
  • Clear and concise communication
  • A tendency to analyze problems in a very detail-oriented fashion
  • Openness to collaboration and feedback
  • The energy and willingness to learn new things and acknowledge areas for growth
